70 years ago: Israeli Knesset votes to move government to Jerusalem

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it...
...In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem...
... In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.

On December 13, 1949, an early example of the fulfillment of the scripture passage above occurred when the Israeli Knesset voted to transfer all government offices except the defense and foreign ministries to the new city of Jerusalem. It was a move to thwart internationalization of the city, in the early years of the United Nations, and 19 months after the state of Israel came into existence. Three days later, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion announced that Jerusalem would become Israel's capital at the end of the year. On December 20, the United Nations Trusteeship Council passed a resolution asking Israel to refrain from establishing its capital in Jerusalem. On December 31, 1949, Israel rejected the Trusteeship Council's request. The end-time prophecies regarding Jerusalem continue to be fulfilled according to God's schedule.
