70 years ago: Pope Pius XII supports international peacekeeping organization

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Isaiah 9:6-7

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. I Thessalonians 5:2-3

On December 24, 1944, Pope Pius XII, in his Christmas message, expressed support for an international organization to keep world peace. The League of Nations (1920-1946) had already failed that task, but the United Nations then came into existence, with its charter coming into effect on October 24, 1945.

It's obvious that Pope Pius XII and his six successors aren't looking to the Prince of Peace to come from heaven to bring peace to Earth, but are looking to this world to produce peace. They've been deceived themselves, and are deceiving others. Lasting peace on Earth won't come until the Lord Jesus Christ personally returns to establish it.
