Iran's Parliament passes bill recognizing Jerusalem as capital of Palestine

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it...
...In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem...
... In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Zechariah 12:2-3, 6, 8-9

It comes as no surprise to this blogger to read of this development, as reported by Fars News Agency, December 27, 2017:

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian legislators approved a bill which requires the government to support Jerusalem al-Quds as the permanent capital city of Palestine.

The bill was approved within the framework of a double-urgency plan on Wednesday with 207 yes votes and no opposition or abstentions.

The parliamentarians had voted to the double-urgency plan on Sunday.

Iran has long been a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause and called on Muslims across the world to unite against the occupying regime of Israel which it does not recognize.

US President Donald Trump sparked global anger on December 6, when he declared that Washington would recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the “capital” of Israel and move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city.

Last Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution by a decisive vote of 128 to 9 to urge Trump to reverse his contentious decision.

Israel lays claim to the whole al-Quds, but the international community views the ancient city's Eastern sector (Eastern Jerusalem) as an occupied land and the Palestinians consider it their future capital.

And as reported by Jewish Telegraphic Agency, December 27, 2017:

...There are 290 members of the parliament, or Majlis...

...The Palestinians claim eastern Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. The Western Wall and the Temple Mount, the holiest sites in Judaism, are located in eastern Jerusalem.

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani told the Parliament that Trump made the announcement “in hopes of dealing a blow to Muslims,” the Turkish Andalou news agency reported.
