30 years ago: 2,000 couples participate in Moonie mass wedding in New York

On July 1, 1982, 2,000 couples were married in a mass wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York staged by the Unification Church, the cult founded and led by South Korean pseudo-Messiah Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Those who are still together gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event. The marriages were not exactly made in heaven, as this article by Let Us Reason Ministries points out.
