50 years ago--The birth control pill is approved for use in the United States

Today marks the 50th anniversary of a milestone in the history of the sexual revolution. On May 9, 1960 Enovid, the original oral contraceptive, was approved in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration for use by married women for the purpose of birth control.
